Tracking Video from America Rising Catches Manchin’s Border Wall Comment

Last night, Vice President Mike Pence reminded West Virginians of Senator Joe Manchin’s litany of votes against GOP priorities. Joe hasn’t had to answer to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on border security yet, but tracking footage from America Rising is holding Joe accountable for admitting: “I’m not voting for the wall, either.”

“Perhaps the most pressing issue Pence brought up is one that hasn’t received a vote yet: funding for border security.”

“‘When it comes to that wall that we’re gonna build on that southern border, Joe said, ‘Well, I’m not voting for the wall either,’” Pence said.”

“The vice president was quoting from footage captured at a Parkersburg, West Virginia town hall meeting in April 2017. A woman from off camera can be heard asking Manchin about the border wall, but before she could finish her question, Manchin interrupted, “I’m not voting for the wall, either.””

“Manchin responded to Pence’s criticism Wednesday evening on Twitter, saying the VP’s comments “are exactly why Washington sucks,” a reference to criticisms he made last week about being a senator.”
