Kamala Harris Walks Back Eliminating Private Insurance

On Monday night’s CNN town hall, Kamala Harris made a bold statement that she was in favor of eliminating private health insurance as part of her Medicare for All plan. Her position has caused uproar within her own party:

CNN: Democrats distance themselves from Harris’ call to eliminate private health plans

WaPo: Democratic Candidates Face Political Risks When Pressed On Health-Care Specifics

After being criticized for this radical stance, Harris almost immediately indicated she would “also be open to the more moderate health reform plans.”

This isn’t the first time Harris has walked back a position. Last year, Harris flip flopped on accepting corporate PAC donations. After receiving backlash from progressives, she quickly reversed her decision and joined the rest of the 2020 Democratic field in the #RaceToTheLeft.
