The new Congress is only days old, yet Democratic obstructionism is already ramping up to historic proportions. This week, Democratic leader Chuck Schumer has floated plans to try and stretch Cabinet votes out until March, while also telling MSNBC that he might try to block a Supreme Court vote indefinitely.

In the spirit of Schumer’s comments, endangered red state Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) has announced that she too is not concerned with being labeled an obstructionist:

“At least one Democrat up for re-election in 2018 in a state carried by Trump this November, McCaskill, said she wasn’t concerned about being labeled an obstructionist in opposing nominees.”

Hillary Clinton lost Missouri by an astounding 18 points, just eight years after Barack Obama lost it by .1%. On the path Senator McCaskill is traveling down, she’ll only exacerbate further Missouri’s move away from the Democratic Party.
