Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is going to Iowa on August 31st for the book tour event. Yet by that point in late August, the FBI investigation into Jane Sanders’ actions could be even more serious than it already is, with astounding implications for his presidential ambitions.

This afternoon, the Washington Post published a report that sheds new light into how advanced the FBI investigation already is. According to the Post, there’s already a grand jury impaneled hearing testimony about Jane Sanders’ action:

“A federal investigation into a land deal led by Jane Sanders, the wife and political adviser of Sen. Bernie Sanders, has accelerated in recent months — with prosecutors hauling off more than a dozen boxes of records from the Vermont college she once ran and calling a state official to testify before a grand jury, according to interviews and documents.”

In addition to impact his national political ambitions, the FBI investigation is also having an impact on Sanders’ political future in Vermont. Yesterday, NBC reported on how a Democratic primary challenger plans on using the FBI investigation against Sanders:

“And Svitavsky said Vermont voters are concerned by the FBI investigation into the finances of Burlington College, a small school that Sanders’ wife ran before it shut down under the weight of a bank loan she took out. ‘It’s a very serious investigation,’ said Svitavsky, who graduated from the school.”

Bernie Sanders is the emerging face of the Democratic Party. Yet while before the party only had to contend with his extreme policies, they must no combat his growing ethical problems.
