Senate Democrats are threatening to filibuster a new Supreme Court nominee no matter who is named. Unfortunately for Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO), she was crystal clear last year that every mainstream Supreme Court nominee deserves a vote. McCaskill spoke out forcefully that the Constitution calls for the Senate to advise and consent to a Supreme Court nominee, saying that “that means having an up-or-down vote”:

“The Constitution clearly says that the President has a four-year term. The Constitution says the President shall nominate Supreme Court Justices. The constitution says the Senate shall advise and consent and that means having an up-or-down vote.”

If McCaskill contradicts her own words from just last year, Missouri voters will have all the proof they need that she’s just another DC politician.
