Democrats Continue To Deny Reality On Obamacare

Since Obamacare became law, Democrats have lurched from one electoral disaster to another. The lone exception to that is President Barack Obama himself. Time and again though Democrats on the state and national level have sacrificed their political careers for a failed law that is tremendously unpopular.

Today in a closed door meeting with Congressional Democrats, President Obama will once again ask Democrats to sacrifice to save Obamacare:

“President Obama will meet behind closed doors Wednesday morning with congressional Democrats to map out a strategy to defend the Affordable Care Act and other health care policies — the very day Republicans will begin debate on getting rid of the sweeping 2010 health-care law.”

A look at the state of Obamacare in 2017 reveals that President Obama is fighting a lost cause. As the below stats show Obamacare is actively harming the American people:

  • In 2017, Obamacare “Silver” plans will see their premiums rise by an average of 25%.
  • Rising Obamacare premiums will affect as many as 8.4 million Americans.
  • Deductibles for Obamacare “Bronze” plans will average $6,000 for individuals and $12,000 for families in 2017.
  • As many as 1.4 million Americans will be forced to find a new insurance plan in 2017.

With such a negative impact it’s no suprise that Obamacare is putting many Senate Democrats in a tough spot. This morning Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said that he could not “in good conscience” attend the Obamacare with President Obama. Yet at the same time, Manchin took the unpopular position of opposing repealing Obamacare and replacing it with a plan that works:

“‘But to say you’re going to throw the baby out with the bathwater, repeal the whole thing. Here we have the incoming vice president, who had Medicaid expansion in Indiana, now saying they want to repeal the whole thing,’ he said.”

President Obama has only sixteen days left in his presidency. On January 20th he will be abandoning Congressional Democrats to their awful Obamacare fate.
